A large handwritten score is partially covered by two small notebooks, each with composing notes on display, plus a ballpoint pen and a set of headphones.

It’s not just composing.

While my commissions calendar is nearly always open, I’m also available to work on projects that extend into my other areas of expertise. If you have an idea that fits into one of the following categories, drop me a line—and if you’re not sure, ask anyway! I’ll work with you to make sure your needs and my abilities are a good fit.

Music Creation and Education

  • Commission a new work from me. (For more specifics, see my Commission Information page.)
  • Hire me as an improviser or performer on trumpet, flugelhorn, and voice.
  • Have me track your trumpet/flugel part from my home studio.
  • I also offer lessons, weekly or biweekly, in composition, music theory, songwriting, trumpet/flugel, and beginning to intermediate piano.
Eris DeJarnett, a nonbinary person, performs on flugelhorn. They are blurry, as if in motion, wearing a low-cut black jumpsuit and standing in front of a microphone.
The bell of a silver-lacquered trumpet lies on a page of blank music staves.

Book a single session or limited series of private meetings for personal education on power dynamics, queer identities, gender marginalization, compassionate language, and/or performance ethics. If you are a disgraced professor, IWBC, ICD, or someone looking to pick my brain for information relevant to a particular situation you find yourself in, this is your option.

Lectures and Workshops

  • Bring me into your classroom, studio, or organization for a guest lecture, clinic, or workshop.
  • Available topics include but are not limited to: my creative practice and how my identity/marginalization has shaped it, working with composers, extended brass techniques, queer identities and respectful language (English), acknowledging power dynamics, performer safety, etc.
  • Lectures focus on delivering content, clinics work one-on-one (in front of a class) or in small groups with students/group members directly, and workshops leave more room for questions as we go.
A nonbinary person with a short buzz cut leans against a cinderblock wall adorned with graffiti. They wear a forest green tank top; they have one eyebrow slightly raised and are smiling as they look toward the camera.
