dreamer//precipice is a love song, a reckoning, a looking back at the beginning of something special. I’ve been fortunate to work with Nick St. Croix, my partner and collaborator, to create a soundscape representative both of where I am as a composer and where we are (I think) as humans.

If I’m being honest, though, this piece was his birthday present. He might not get to perform it live for awhile (thanks, COVID), but it was important to me that I find a way to realize the sounds and the thoughts while they made sense. So, in many ways, this was the driving force behind WEAKNESS. I’m so glad it worked out this way.

Written for (and sorta commissioned by) Nick St. Croix.

Run time: approx. 4’30”. Range: E1-G#4. (Don’t look at me that way. He can do it. He sounds great. So can you. And there’s only one E1, I promise.)

Frequently asked: How should I write the name of this piece in programs/posts/etc.?
Answer: In all lowercase, with two slashes instead of spaces (“dreamer//precipice”). This song is intentionally not written with Capital Letter Energy; please honor that by writing it as I’ve written it for your programs and other media.
May I chop up your program notes?
Answer: Please don’t! My notes are in many cases my only opportunity to speak directly to your audience. If limited program space is a consideration, consider linking them to this page via a QR code and/or reading them aloud for your audience during your set.
Can I download materials forever?

Answer: As long as my website is functional and the materials are stored there, yes. HOWEVER, I strongly encourage all performers to download all your performance materials immediately after purchase—technical difficulties can occur on both my end and yours, and I’d hate to leave you without your materials if a problem arises!
